Docs for LLMs

Give an AI model these docs as plain Markdown, through llms.txt, llms-full.txt, a .md copy of every page, or the Copy page button.

On this page
  1. llms.txt
  2. llms-full.txt
  3. Any page as Markdown
  4. Copy page and Open in Claude or ChatGPT
  5. Point your agent at the docs
  6. Docs and MCP together

Every page of this documentation is also published as plain Markdown, which is easier for a model to read than the HTML page. There is an index for agents at /llms.txt, a single file with everything at /llms-full.txt, and a .md copy of each page. Use whichever fits how much context your model has.

llms.txt

https://docs.fortly.com/llms.txt

The index, in the llms.txt format. It describes Fortly in a paragraph and then lists every page by section. Each entry has the page's title, a link to its Markdown copy, and a one-sentence summary. An agent can read it first and then fetch only the pages it needs.

Each HTML page also advertises the index in its <head>, so tools that look for llms.txt can find it on their own.

llms-full.txt

https://docs.fortly.com/llms-full.txt

Every page in reading order, as one Markdown document, with pages separated by ---. Use it when you want a model to have the whole documentation in its context at once, for example in a chat or a project knowledge base.

Any page as Markdown

Add .md to a page's URL:

PageMarkdown copy
https://docs.fortly.com/quickstarthttps://docs.fortly.com/quickstart.md
https://docs.fortly.com/data/server-apihttps://docs.fortly.com/data/server-api.md
https://docs.fortly.com (the home page)https://docs.fortly.com/index.md

Each copy starts with the page's title, its one-sentence summary, and a Source: line with the page's URL. The page's components are written out as plain Markdown. A route becomes `GET /projects` with its description, a parameter becomes a list item with its type and whether it is required, a note or warning becomes a quote, and each tab becomes a bold heading followed by its content. Links are absolute, so they still work once the text is pasted somewhere else.

Every page other than the home page links to its own Markdown copy with <link rel="alternate" type="text/markdown">.

Copy page and Open in Claude or ChatGPT

Each page has a Copy page button under its title and summary. It copies the page as Markdown, ready to paste into a chat. The arrow next to it opens more options:

  • View as Markdown opens the .md copy in a new tab.
  • Open in Claude and Open in ChatGPT start a new chat that asks the model to read the page's Markdown copy, so you can ask questions about it straight away.

The same links are also under the page outline: Copy as Markdown, Open in Claude and Open in ChatGPT.

Point your agent at the docs

Paste the index URL into your prompt and tell the agent to use it:

Use the Fortly docs at https://docs.fortly.com/llms.txt. Read the pages you need
before you answer, and follow the links to their .md versions.

To make this stick for a coding agent, add a line to the instructions file it reads for every task in your repository, such as CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md:

CLAUDE.md
This app is deployed on Fortly. For platform questions, read
https://docs.fortly.com/llms.txt and the .md pages it links to.

For a single question, paste one page's .md URL, or use Copy page and paste the text itself.

Docs and MCP together

The docs tell a model how Fortly works. The MCP server tells it what is true of your projects right now: what is deployed, whether it is running, and what the logs say. Give your agent both, and it can read how something should work and check it against your project in the same task.
